FCT Minister Wike Issues 14-Day Ultimatum to Abuja Landowners Over ₦5 Million Land-Use Violation Penalty

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has issued a final 14-day grace period for property owners in Asokoro, Maitama, Garki, and Wuse who altered the approved use of their buildings.

According to a statement from his media aide, affected owners are to pay a N5m penalty and complete all required regularisation steps between November 11 and November 25, 2025.

Those who fail to comply after the two-week window will face enforcement by the FCT Administration.

This follows the minister’s earlier approval of a N5m fine and additional charges for properties converted without proper approval. A list of 374 affected property owners had already been published earlier in the year.

Owners who meet the conditions within the grace period will be issued updated title documents reflecting the new land use.

The new titles will not apply to properties whose titles have already been revoked for non-development or non-payment of ground rent.
