The Facebook account of prominent Plateau-based cleric, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has been deleted, DOYA NEWS has confirmed. The outspoken religious leader, known for his relentless advocacy on the ongoing killing of Christians in Nigeria, acknowledged the development on Saturday.
When contacted by DOYA NEWS to verify whether his account had indeed been removed from the platform, Dachomo responded briefly but firmly: “It’s true.”
The disappearance of his Facebook account comes at a time when Dachomo has gained international attention for his bold and unsettling revelations about the crisis. In a recent interview with British journalist Piers Morgan, the cleric disclosed that he had personally overseen over 70 mass burials, painting a grim picture of the scale of violence in parts of Nigeria’s Middle Belt and northern regions.
Dachomo also testified before the United States Congress, where he detailed the killings and urged international intervention to stop what he repeatedly describes as a Christian genocide.
His global visibility has intensified following statements from former U.S. President Donald Trump, who recently referred to Nigeria as a “disgrace” and accused the government of failing to curb the mass killing of Christians. Trump also stated that the U.S. may reconsider subsidies to Nigeria over the worsening insecurity.
The U.S. government has already shown renewed concern over religious persecution. Washington Rep. Chris Moore recently outlined two conditions Nigeria must meet before securing a U.S. military partnership — a move widely interpreted as applying pressure on the Nigerian government to address human-rights violations.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s federal authorities have pushed back against such criticisms. A delegation sent to the U.S. insisted that Nigeria was designated a Country of Particular Concern based on what they called “faulty statistics,” a claim that has been met with skepticism by many advocacy groups.
The deletion of Dachomo’s Facebook account has now sparked fresh debate on censorship, digital suppression, and the safety of activists spotlighting religious violence in Nigeria.
