Insecurity: Bauchi Government Orders Immediate Shutdown of All Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Institutions

The Bauchi State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all schools across the state—covering primary, secondary, and tertiary levels—in a sweeping response to growing security concerns.

The directive, announced in an official public statement signed by Jalaludeen Usman, ANIPR, Information and Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Ministry of Education, affects state-owned schools, federal institutions, mission schools, and private schools without exception.

According to the government, the decision was reached after extensive consultations and a careful review of “overwhelming security concerns” threatening the safety of students, teachers, and school communities.

While acknowledging the inconvenience the shutdown will cause, the government emphasized that the safety of children remains its top priority.

“The protection of our children remains our highest moral responsibility,” the statement read. “Every student in Bauchi State deserves to learn in an environment that is safe, stable, and free of fear.”

Parents, school administrators, and the general public have been urged to remain calm and avoid panic. The state government assured residents that it is working closely with security agencies to address threats and restore conditions that will allow classes to resume as soon as possible.

Authorities also appealed for heightened community vigilance, urging citizens to report any suspicious activities. “If you see something, say something,” the statement added, noting that community intelligence remains essential in enhancing public safety.

The Bauchi State Government pledged to provide continuous updates as the security situation evolves, while residents wait anxiously for further guidance on when schools may reopen.
