The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) has sealed off BON Hotel situated on Sule Olusesi Street in the Conservation Area of Lekki, Eti-Osa, over the alleged discharge of untreated wastewater into public drainage channels.
The enforcement operation, carried out on Monday, followed reports that the hotel used pumping machines to channel untreated wastewater into nearby drains, creating environmental pollution, offensive odours, and potential health hazards for residents in the area.
Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed the development through his official social media platform, stressing that the Lagos State Government remains committed to enforcing environmental and sanitation laws across the state.
He warned that businesses, organisations, and individuals found engaging in activities harmful to public health or the environment would face strict sanctions in accordance with existing environmental regulations.
The LSWMO also advised residents and corporate bodies to adopt proper wastewater management practices and work closely with relevant authorities to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment in Lagos State.
