Mrs. Soludo Advocates Greater Attention to Men’s Mental Health

As Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month is marked globally in June, the wife of the Anambra State Governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, has called on men to prioritize their emotional and psychological well-being, urging them to break the culture of silence surrounding mental health challenges.

In a message shared through her social media platforms, Mrs. Soludo emphasized that many men have grown up under societal expectations that encourage them to suppress emotions and endure difficulties without seeking help. She noted that such attitudes often prevent individuals from accessing the support they need.

According to her, genuine strength is not only demonstrated through resilience but also through the willingness to speak openly about personal struggles, seek assistance when necessary, and pay attention to mental and emotional health.

Mrs. Soludo stressed the importance of creating supportive environments where men can freely express their feelings without fear of criticism or stigma. She described mental health as a vital aspect of overall wellness, essential for nurturing healthy families and building stronger communities.

The governor’s wife also acknowledged the daily sacrifices and responsibilities carried by men in their various roles as providers, leaders, and caregivers. She encouraged them to take time to rest, maintain meaningful social connections, and seek professional or personal support whenever needed.

She further reminded men that caring for their mental health should be regarded with the same importance as maintaining physical health, noting that overall well-being contributes significantly to personal growth and societal development.

Her remarks come amid increasing awareness of men’s mental health concerns across the world. Mental health advocates continue to highlight the impact of cultural and social pressures that often discourage men from discussing emotional difficulties or accessing mental health services.

Mrs. Soludo’s message reflects her broader commitment to health and social welfare advocacy in Anambra State, where she has consistently supported initiatives focused on public health awareness and assistance for vulnerable populations.
