Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has formally resigned his membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), ending a long-standing political association with the party under whose platform he rose to national prominence.
In a letter dated November 4, 2025, addressed to the PDP leadership in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government Area, Governor Adeleke stated that his decision was driven by the ongoing crisis and leadership turmoil within the party at the national level.
According to the governor, the deepening internal conflicts have made it “untenable” for him to continue as a member.
Governor Adeleke expressed gratitude to the PDP and its supporters for the opportunities the party provided throughout his political journey. He acknowledged the platform that enabled his election first as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and later as the Governor of Osun State.
His resignation marks a significant political development in Osun State and could reshape alignments within the state’s political landscape, as observers now await his next political move.
